Important Update: Westcliff Medical Centre patient engagement regarding change of premises

Please read the important notice below about upcoming changes to the location of Westcliff Medical Centre, and opportunity for patients to provide feedback on a proposed solution.

What’s happening

The landlord who owns Westcliff Medical Centre has served notice that the practice must vacate the current premises by 31 January 2026.

​

Working with the ICB

We have been working closely with the NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (the ICB) to explore all available options to ensure our patients remain able to access healthcare services locally.

​

We have identified an opportunity to relocate to nearby Valkyrie Primary Care Centre where there is available space to accommodate all Westcliff Medical Centre staff and patient services.

​

This option would ensure all existing patient services could continue in a nearby location, and that our patients have continuity of care with current staff.

​

Valkyrie Primary Care Centre is located 0.3 miles away (6-minute walk) at 50 Valkyrie Rd, Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, SS0 8BU

​

What this would mean for patients

​

• Continued access to general practice services from a nearby location.

• No need to re-register: Patients would remain registered with Westcliff Medical Centre.

• Contact telephone numbers would remain the same.

• Same familiar staff: All staff (clinical and administrative) would transfer to Valkyrie Primary Care Centre. This means that patients would continue to see the a named GP and familiar team members at the new location.

• Improved facilities: Valkyrie Primary Care Centre offers modern facilities, clinical and consulting space, and a dedicated car park, which will support  accessibility for our patients.

 

Why Valkyrie Primary Care Centre?

This site is very close to our current surgery, it has the capacity to accommodate all Westcliff Medical Centre staff and services, and is available within the short timescales before we have to leave our current location.

It is also a site that patients will already be familiar with accessing for evening and weekend appointments

provided by our Primary Care Network.

Next steps
We are launching a 3-week engagement period starting Tuesday 2 December 2025, during which we will gather feedback from patients.

• Patient information, including a copy of the patient letter, FAQs, patient survey, and poster will be available at Westcliff Medical Centre and on this website.  Information can be provided in preferred communication formats, easy read versions and in a range of languages on request.
